The Institute of Art Studies concludes a cooperation agreement with Ancient Nessebur Museum

The Director of the Institute of Art Studies, BAS, signed a cooperation agreement with Ancient Nessebur Museum on 31 July 2020. Under the agreement, the institutions shall cooperate in staging and holding cultural, scientific and educational events, including submitting joint projects to national and European funding programmes. The researchers at the Institute are showing keen interest in joint publications and exhibitions to be agreed upon with the Museum; in awarding renowned artists; in massive events seeking to promote the local churches and icons. A team of researchers has already taken pictures of the murals at the Church of St Stephen as part of materials for the book A Repertorium of the Church Mural Painting in Sixteenth-century Bulgaria, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science under the Cultural and Historical Heritage, National Memory and Social Development programme. Museum workers are, in their turn, availing themselves of the expertise of the researchers in, for example, deciphering Greek inscriptions, providing consultations to doctoral students from the Museum, etc.
