Art Hour: Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya by Fantasy youth theatre group from Ihtiman

Sofia premiere of Uncle Vanya staged by Fantasy youth theatre group from Ihtiman under the Art Hour Initiative of the Institute of Art Studies is scheduled for 9 March, 7:30 pm on the open Art Stage Shipka kindly hosted by the Russian Culture and Information Centre.
Fantasy youth theatre group was formed in 2011 at Sluntse–1879 community centre, Ihtiman and was meant to provide training in dramatics for youngsters aged between 6 and 18. The group had staged five productions: Romeo and Juliet, The Government Inspector, Tartuffe, Being Hamlet and Black Comedy. In 2013, a children’s school of drama was established staging several productions such as Little Red Riding Hood and Friends, Sleep-button, Telephone Tales, Shakespeare for Beginners, etc. Over the years, the group has also given Christmas poetry readings of poems by Valery Petrov and Boris Hristov, on the occasion of Vasil Levski’s 180th anniversary, etc. Over 60 young hopefuls have been trained at the school, two of them already studying acting at NATFA.
Deyan Statulov, PhD, Asst. Prof. at the Department of Screen Arts, Institute of Art Studies, BAS and film reviewer for Just Like the Movies on bTV and bTV Cinema leads the group.
