A breakthrough in Bulgarian-Greek relations

Dr. Vasilis Gregoriou, Director and Chairman of the Board of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) and Assoc. Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov signed on 14 September 2018 a memorandum of cooperation between the Institute of Art Studies, BAS and the Institute of Historical Research (NHRF), Athens. The memorandum provides for exchange of experts, doctoral students, literature and joint submissions of project proposals for EU funding. It was the first ever cooperation contract between a BAS institute and the NHRF, Athens. Teams of the Institute of Art Studies and the Athens-based Institute of Historical Research are already working on the BYZART project, funded under the Connecting Europe Facility.
The National Hellenic Research Foundation was founded in 1958. It is a non-profit research foundation supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of Greece’s Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. NHRF comprises also the Institute of Biology, Medicinal Chemistry and Biotechnology and the Institute of Theoretical and Physical Chemistry.
The activity of the Institute of Historical Research (IHR/NHRF) focuses on Greek & Roman Antiquity; Byzantine and Neohellenic research. It is the most prestigious Greek research institution in the fields of historical and philological studies.
