Cooperation between the Institute of Art Studies – BAS and the Sofia Music Weeks International Music Festival

On 11 March 2026, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Institute of Art Studies – BAS and the Sofia Music Weeks International Music Festival. The document was signed by Prof. Joanna Spassova-Dikova, PhD, Director of the Institute, and Prof. Momchil Georgiev, PhD, Chair of the Festival. The purpose of the agreement is to intensify the fruitful bilateral relations between the two organisations, which already exist informally. Over the past few years, these relations have been manifested in the presentation of books by scholars from the Music Sector during the festival, as well as in research into the festival practices of this leading music forum, which served as the basis for Assoc. Prof. Diana Damyanova-Danova, PhD’s monograph ‘Sofia Music Weeks. Studies on the History and Present of the Festival’, published by the Institute of Art Studies – BAS in 2024. In the future, joint activities are planned to organise discussion forums, lectures, and conferences, hold thematic round tables, produce joint publications, etc., as well as to continue activities aimed at promoting scholarly publications and ideas.
