FOURTH TEXT AND IMAGE INTERDISCIPLINARY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

A few days before the beginning of the new academic year, the Text and Image Interdisciplinary Conference was held for the fourth time. The organisers of this forum are seven partner institutions: the Institute of Art Studies – BAS and the Institute of Literature – BAS, the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov”, New Bulgarian University, the National Academy of Art, the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv. Scholars and artists had the opportunity to exchange ideas, points of view, and intuitions in search of the intersection between different arts and between different disciplines in the humanities. This time, too, interdisciplinarity and intermediality were a unifying principle. The previous editions of the conference showed the diversity and productivity of this perspective and, above all, the opportunity to approach contemporary cultural sensibility through it. 
Corr. Member Miroslav Dachev – Rector of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts; Prof. Joanna Spassova-Dikova, Director of the Institute of Art Studies – BAS; Assoc. Prof. Marieta Girginova – Deputy Director of ILIT – BAS; Prof. Morris Fadel – NBU; Prof. Snezhina Vrangova-Petkova, Deputy Director of NAM, and others, gave congratulatory addresses.

Once again, the Text and Image conference opened new spaces to discover the invisible threads that connect words and forms. It proved that joining the efforts of scholars and lecturers from different cultural institutions is a step towards communication between people in the context of today’s globalisation, when the local and the global are intertwined.
