PhD student Ivan Yanakiev presents his alternative concert pitch in Berlin

Ivan Yanakiev, a full-time PhD student from Music Contemporaneity research group, Department of Music, Institute of Art Studies participates in a cultural management project in Berlin on the initiative of Goethe-Institute, Sofia. Along with his scholarly activities, he holds meetings with teachers at the Musikschule Berlin and with composers. His ideas of an alternative concert pitch arouse keen interest. It was agreed that pieces in 432 Hz with bare fifth would be composed for the 432 Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yanakiev. Performance of such pieces is under a support for the young researchers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences project and is related to Yanaliev’s doctoral thesis.
