Emmanuel Moutafov: Taking a proletarian angle on intellectual work is irritating
Assoc. Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, Director of the Institute of Art Studies gave an interview to Transmedia Studio pertaining to the situation in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the issue of the budgetary subsidy and the position of the soft sciences. Though recorded on 25 November, the interview is as topical as ever especially in the wake of the dramatic adoption of the Academy’s budget by Parliament on 1 December.

Assoc. Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov is a historian, Byzantologist, Director of the Institute of Art Studies, BAS. He studied archaeology and history of art at the Athens State University. Since 1996 he has devoted himself to studying the Byzantine-Bulgarian cultural relations and the quest for objectivity in the past of the Balkans.
