Presentation of a multimedia edition with field recordings and pictures from Bulgaria 1966–1979

A lecture will be delivered on 27 February 2020, Thursday, 1:00 pm, Hall 1, 21 Krakra St, Institute of Art Studies, BAS, Sofia, within the seminar on New Ideas in Ethnomusicology, initiated by Prof. Rosemary Statelova, DSc, and Assoc. Prof. Ventsislav Dimov.
Sound Portraits from Bulgaria: A Journey to a Vanished World 1966–1979 (Washington: Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Smithsonian Institution, 2019) by Martin Koenig, American recordist and ethnographer, includes his recordings and pictures made and taken between 1966 and 1979; pp. 144, over 100 unique photos and two CDs with 109’ field recordings. Bulgarian consultants, authors of entries, commentaries on the field recordings and the introduction: Lozanka Peicheva, Ventsislav Dimov; American consultants and authors: Timothy Rice, Donna A. Buchanan and Martha Forsyth, renowned researchers on Bulgarian folklore.
