The Interactive Map of the Arts in Bulgaria Laboratory at the Institute of Art Studies – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Opens
On December 19, the new laboratory Interactive Map of the Arts in Bulgaria, built and equipped under the project BG05M2OP001-1.001-0001 “Construction and development of a centre of excellence “Heritage BG””, financed under the Operational Programme “Science and Education for Smart Growth” 2014–2020, Priority Axis 1 “Research and Technological Development”, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)”, was officially opened at the Institute for Art Studies – BAS.
Official guests of the event were Prof. Georgi Vaysilov, DSc, Executive Director and Head of the Executive Agency “Program for Education”, Prof. Olya Harizanova, DSc, Coordinator of “Construction and Development of centre of excellence Heritage BG”, Assoc. Prof. Elka Traykova, PhD, Scientific Secretary of the Cultural-historical Heritage and National Identity Department at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The event was opened by the Director of the Institute of Art Studies Prof. Joanna Spassova-Dikova, PhD; after her speech Prof. Olya Harizanova congratulated the IAS and the team on the successfully completed project and wished them successful work in the laboratory. The program continued with a demonstration moderated by the head of the laboratory Prof. Goritsa Naydenova, PhD, of the work with the specialized equipment provided for digitization of various media from the Archives of the IAS: digitization of large-format paper media (architectural drawings – Albena Zaharieva), digitization and primary sound processing of a turntable gramophone record (Alex Nushev), digitization and stages of digitization of terrain tape (Maria Kumichin, PhD), and digitization of terrain film and its synchronization with the sound of recording tapes (Ivaylo Parvanov, PhD). At the end, a film was presented with excerpts from field film tape from the Music Folklore Archive of the IAS that have already been digitized.
