NEW BOOK BY PROF. EMANUEL MUTAFOV

The monograph “The Herminia of Ioannis Constantinou from 1831”, published by the Publishing House of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences “Prof. Marin Drinov”, describes the earliest preserved translation of a work on painting from Greek into Bulgarian in Samokov and in general on Bulgarian territory. The published herminia (iconographic manual) contains passages from Leonardo’s treatise “On Painting” in a Greek translation by Panagiotis Doxaras, as well as the compilations of the Herminias of Dionysius and father Daniel known from later manuscripts.
