Presentation of the Book Sofia Music Weeks. Studies on the History and Present of the Festival by Diana Danova-Damyanova

The book Sofia Music Weeks. Studies on the History and Present of the Festival by Assist. Prof. Diana Danova-Damyanova, PhD, will be presented on 30 June 2024 at 18:00 in Hall 48 of National Academy of Music Prof. Pancho Vladigerov.
The book is the first large-scale and targeted study of the Sofia Music Weeks International Festival. In the form of four studies, its 55-year history is traced from its creation in 1970 to the latest editions. The thematic emphasis is placed on the formation and gradual transformation of the festival model, the metamorphoses in the organizational structure, as well as the consolidation of the international authority of the forum. Bulgarian music, taking an increasingly important place in the repertoire of Sofia Music Weeks, is demonstrated by some works performed for the first time. Detailed appendices are a complementary and integral part of the text, supported by rich illustrative material.
Sofia Music Weeks. Studies on the History and Present of the Festival is an edition of the Institute of Art Studies–BAS. It was realized under a project of the Sofia Music Weeks International Festival Foundation with the financial support of the National Culture Fund in connection with the 55th anniversary of the festival.
The event is part of the program of Sofia Music Weeks International Festival 23 May – 1 October 2024.
