CALL FOR PUBLICATIONS IN THE ART STUDIES QUARTERLY JOURNAL, 2025, ISSUE 1

The editorial team of Art Studies Quarterly journal invites authors of articles, studies, and reviews to send their proposals for publication in issue No. 1 / 2025 of the journal, planned to be published on 31 March 2025.
The intended focus of the special issue is "Arts and Archives". The sense of the term 'archive' is no more narrow than the sense of 'art'; in a figurative sense, an archive may be also any artifact out of use, stored in a specific way, containing certain historical information. In this case, information about art and its history. The topic implies the analysis of a wide range of problems: about the archives themselves, their storage, digitization and studying; for their informative capabilities about art; for a document from an archive being in itself a work of art. The two terms, art and archive, could be more precisely defined, yet in the context of the expanded scope of their meanings.
The chronological range of the topic proposal are also extensive, since in most cases a particular archive and the information it reflects belong to different times. For example: an archive created in modern times can refer to ancient, medieval, pre-modern art.
The authors are invited to send a brief synopsis of their article, study, or review in not more than 1000 characters and a short biography (up to 500 characters) by 1 October 2024.
Papers accepted for publication shall be announced by 15 October 2024. Deadline for sending final texts of articles, studies, or reviews is 16 December 2024 (Monday). Completed texts should be formatted according to the submission guidelines of the journal:
