New Book by Polina Antonova, PhD
The book is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Panka Pelisek (1899–1990) – one of the most important figures in Bulgarian piano culture of the last century. A gifted, artistic, and intelligent person, she had a bright presence and fundamental contribution to the development and establishment of the Bulgarian piano school. She realised one of the most successful pedagogical practices in our professional piano art and earned name and prestige on a European and global scale. The text introduces and analyses archival materials related to the pedagogical practice of Panka Pelisek, which have not previously been the subject of research interest. On this basis, an attempt was made to analyse and interpret the specific pedagogical approach of the pianist. The study follows in detail her overall contribution to the aesthetic debate on conceptual unity in the Bulgarian piano school, realized through her various professional activities as a performer, pedagogue, lecturer, public figure, and publicist.
