Doctoral Seminar of the Screen Arts Sector
On 17.09.2024, Tuesday, at 11:00, in Hall 1 of the Institute of Art Studies, the doctoral students Katerina Lambrinova, Stefka Mancheva and Petar Todorov will present within the framework of the doctoral seminar of the Screen Arts Sector.
Katerina Lambrinova will present a report analysing various thematic references, stylistic influences and production practices borrowed by Bulgarian feature films produced after 1989 from independent American cinema, as well as the success of individual contemporary Bulgarian film titles at prestigious American film festivals such as Sundance, Slamdance, and SXSW.
Stefka Mancheva will present a report on Touching Points of Short Story and Short Film. Applicable and problematic narrative techniques. The scope of the work includes the consideration and problematisation of the duration of films – the advantages and limitations in the context of the film festival as the main medium of short cinema in Europe.
In his report, Petar Todorov focuses on the development and results of European policies to deal with the consequences of COVID-19 on the film industry. The study compares the methods of financial and state incentives and protection applied by the countries in the European Union, created or developed as a result of the pandemic, and the reactions to them on the audiovisual market in the period 2020–2023.
