THE SECOND INTERDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE “TEXT AND IMAGE” IN PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BAS INSTITUTES, ART ACADEMIES AND UNIVERSITIES WAS HELD

The Institute of Art Studies and the Institute of Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov”, the New Bulgarian University and the National Academy of Arts organised the Second Text and Image Interdisciplinary Conference.
The initiative began in 2023 as a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of three art institutions: the Institute of Art Studies and the Institute for Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov”. New Bulgarian University joined as a co-organiser.

The experience from the conference then entitled “Text in the Image, Image in the Text” convinced us of the inspiring power of the topic. At the intersection of various arts and artistic practices, it attracted the attention of researchers from different fields of the humanities and social sciences, who with their participation made the forum a significant place for scientific exchange. The conference showed that today no knowledge can be closed within its disciplinary boundaries, much less that which is related to art – boundless, fluid and infinite.
Encouraged by the success, the organisers decided to turn the initiative into an annual forum. The topic, which continues to attract attention both theoretically and historically, will now have a reserved time and place for its researchers.

Seventy-seven scholars from different universities, academies, and research institutes from the country took part in the forum.
