Three awards for publications by young scholars from the Institute of Art Studies
Three representatives of the Institute of Art Studies were awarded in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ annual competition for the best publication by young scientists. Assistant Professor Natasha Noeva, PhD, and PhD student Simeon Tonchev received the second prize, and Assistant Professor Elina Anastasova, PhD, received the third prize.
The 2024 Award in humanities and social sciences is named after Acad. Ivan E. Geshov, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death.
Natasha Noeva was awarded for her article “Rakovski Gallery 125 – the face of modernising artistic life in Bulgaria. Architectural appearance, construction, reconstructions”, published in the second issue for 2023 of the Art Studies Quarterly journal, a refereed edition of the Institute of Art Studies and the only academic journal in Bulgaria in the field of fine arts, theatre, and screen arts. The awarded article by Simeon Tonchev is “The Participation of the Ottoman Empire at the International Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876”, which was published in the fourth issue for 2023 of the refereed and indexed magazine “History” of the National Publishing House for Education and Science “Az-buki”, Ministry of Education and Science. Elina Anastasova was awarded for her publication “On Two Roman Portraits from the Territory of Nicopolis ad Istrum” in the referenced thematic collection “Personalia. Artistic readings I.2021. Old Art”, released in 2022.
The awarded young scholars received their certificates on November 13 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from Corr. member Evdokia Pasheva, in the presence of the chairperson of the scientific jury Academician Krasimir Atanasov, DSc, colleagues and relatives.
