Theatre Sector Seminar “Bulgarian Theatre – Intersection of Cultural Interactions II” on 21.11.2024

The second session of the seminar Bulgarian Theatre: Intersection of Cultural Interactions in the Theatre Sector will take place on 21 November 2024 at 10:00 AM in Hall 2 of the Institute of Art Studies. The topic will be: The Director and Contemporary Bulgarian and European Drama. Prof. Kamelia Nikolova, DSc, will deliver a report titled The Director and the New Drama: Urgent Issues. The problem of the directors’ interest in the new dramaturgical writing in the Bulgarian theatre today will be examined. Several key issues will be addressed: the role of the dramatic text in theatrical performance, the criteria directors use to select contemporary plays, the journey of new Bulgarian, European, and international texts to the Bulgarian stage, cultural policies related to new drama, and audience interest in it.
