Premiere of the New Book by Prof. Nikolay Yordanov, DSc.: The Bulgarian Dramatic Canon. Form, Rearrangement, Rereading.

The premiere will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 5 p.m., at Sredets Gallery, 17 Al. Stamboliyski, Ministry of Culture.
Prof. Kamelia Nikolova, DSc, will present the book.
The monograph of Nikolay Yordanov aims to highlight those authors and titles in Bulgarian dramaturgy that have long-term validity in different historical situations and for various social groups. It traces the sociocultural filters of recognition – theatrical, literary, educational, scientific, critical, etc., which have imposed a set of dramatic works that we consider “classical heritage”, “valuable archive”, and “canon”. In search of the universal validity of some of the most recognisable texts for theatre, transcending the national context, the author also offers up-to-date readings of seven emblematic titles from Bulgarian dramaturgy: Vampire by Anton Strashimirov, Dragon Wedding by Petko Todorov. When thunder strikes, how the echo fades by Peyo Yavorov, Masters by Racho Stoyanov, Albena by Yordan Yovkov, January by Yordan Radichkov, and Nirvana by Konstantin Iliev.
