FILM BOOKS WITH AUTOGRAPHS
Film critics and researchers will present their books on 13 January, the Day of Bulgarian Cinema.
On the Day of Bulgarian Cinema, the scholars from the Screen Arts Sector at the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of the Cinema House and the National Film Centre, will present their monographs and publications at a special stand at the Cinema House in Sofia.
From 16:30 to 18:00, audiences and spectators will get acquainted with the latest research by critics and researchers of cinema in Bulgaria; they will be able to review and purchase books and collections of publications from the last few years and meet the authors in person. The engaging titles include The Animation Hybrids by Prof. Nadezhda Marinchevska, Advantages and Challenges of Short Forms. Models and Practices of the Bulgarian Short Feature Film by Prof. Petya Aleksandrova, Screen and Stage. The New Multimedia Performances and The Photography by Assoc. Prof. Yosif Astrukov, Help from the Audience, The Independent in Cinema by Prof. Alexander Donev, The Balkan War in the History of Bulgarian Cinema by Petar Karjilov, DSc, Bulgarian Post Totalitarian Documentary Cinema: Techniques, Trends, Authors, Films, Analyses by Assoc. Prof. Teodora Stoilova-Doncheva, Thessaloniki Film Festival by Assoc. Prof. Gergana Doncheva, Celluloid, Cellulose and Clouds. Transmedia Challenges for Film Critics in Bulgaria (1989–2021) by Rosen Spasov, PhD, Works on Media Aesthetics by Walter Benjamin, translated and edited by Prof. Alexander Donev and Gergana Farkova, (Im)Possible Freedom, (Re)Commissioned Films and Between Two Frames by Assoc. Prof. Deyan Statulov.
The latest issue of the Art Studies Quarterly, focused on cinema and published by the Institute of Art Studies, will be presented at the event.
The publications will be sold at a preferential price and signed by their authors during the event.
The premiere of the latest edition of the Art Studies Institute’s project, The Power of Cinema. Anthology of Bulgarian Film Thought Between the Two World Wars, compiled by Rosen Spasov, PhD, starts at 18:00 in the Resonance Hall of the Cinema House.
