VIII YOUTH SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ART AND CONTEXT 2025
On 25 and 26 February 2025, the Institute of Art Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the financial support of the National Culture Fund (contract No. KRI-E-2024-1 05/11/2024), held for the eighth time the established Youth Scientific Conference Art and Context.
The Institute's main priorities include encouraging young scholars to present their expert work and creating an environment for exchanging ideas and research perspectives in fine arts, music, cinema, theatre, architecture, and interdisciplinary studies. Forty-six young scholars participated with papers; for some, it was the first public presentation of their work. The large number of participants proved the need to hold the conference. Participants included doctoral students and young scholars from the Institute of Art Studies, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, New Bulgarian University, NATFA, National Academy of Art, South-West University “Neofit Rilski”, St. St. Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, etc. The wide range of academic institutions was also reflected in the thematic richness of the reports – from the cinematic image of James Bond through female jewellery, dance, sculpture, Eastern arts and religions to archival heritage.
The texts of established scholars from the Institute of Art Studies (Assoc. Prof. Stefka Venkova, PhD – Music; Assoc. Prof. Ivan Vanev, PhD – Fine Arts; Assoc. Prof. Yosif Astrukov, PhD – Screen Arts; Assist. Prof. Petar Denchev, PhD – Theatre) are to be edited and published in a collection.
