International Scientific Conference Art Readings. Arts and Archives. Old Art Module, 3 – 5 April 2025

From 3 to 5 April 2025, at the Institute of Art Studies – BAS, in the administrative building on 21 Krakra Str., the annual international scientific conference Art Readings, Old Art Module with the topic Arts and Archives. In this year's edition, more than sixty researchers from Bulgaria, Albania, Armenia, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia, Romania, Poland, and Croatia present their research in a broad thematic and chronological range – from antiquity to the 20th century, with a focus on the archives from the Balkans as important sources for the study of individual monuments, masters, cult sites, and objects, but also in the context of more general methodological and theoretical issues related to the Balkan artistic heritage. The sessions on 3 and 4 April will commence with plenary reports by Prof. Nenad Makulević, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, and Prof. Ciprian Firea from the Institute of Archaeology and Art History, Cluj Napoca, Romanian Academy. On April 5, the forum will conclude with a thematic panel and a roundtable organised by colleagues from the Ionian University of Corfu on Problems of Digital Archives for the Arts.
Art Readings Conference is being held for another year with the financial support of the Scientific Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science, contract No. КП-06-МНФ/46/16.12.2024.
