End of the International Scientific Conference Art Readings 2025. New Art Module, 10-12 April, Sofia, Institute of Art Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
The International Scientific Conference Art Readings 2025. New Art Module (10-12 April) ended. For three days, in 14 thematic sessions and discussions after each, more than 60 scholars from 8 countries debated the topical problem of arts and archives. Comprehensive reports were presented on the state of the archives in the field of theatre, fine arts, music, and screen arts in Bulgaria, as well as in many other European countries, such as Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, and North Macedonia. Different views were shared on the issue of the role of art archives in creating a reliable, deep, and objective history of the arts; on the professional, responsible, and adequate preservation, updating and use of existing archival funds; and on their development today in the era of new technologies. The main issues and good practices so far were highlighted, as well as the most appropriate ways to store modern artefacts and the use of art archives in the coming years. Special emphasis was placed on the presence and participation of artificial intelligence in the creation and public visibility of both works of art and archive funds.
The sessions of the New Art module were broadcast directly on the Internet and could be viewed on the Institute of Art Studies' channel on YouTube.
For another year, the Art Readings International Scientific Conference was realised with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science's Scientific Research Fund (contract No. КП-06-МНФ/46/16.12.2024).
The organisers also thank the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum – BAS; the National Archaeological Institute with Museum – BAS; and the National Gallery and the Regional History Museum – Sofia, which supported the scientific forum.
