CALL FOR PUBLICATIONS IN THE ART STUDIES QUARTERLY JOURNAL, 2025, ISSUE 3

The editorial team of Art Studies Quarterly invites potential authors of articles, studies, and reviews to send their proposals for publication in the third issue of the journal, which is planned to be released on 15 October 2025.
The central theme of the current issue is Theatre in Times of Global Crises. Since its inception in Ancient Greece, theatre in Europe has been closely linked to what is happening in local communities and the world. Moreover, it is a particularly sensitive litmus test for the basic processes, energies, and moods in them.
How has the modern theatre reacted to events in Europe and the world in recent years? What are its strategies for understanding, assessing, and commenting on the global conflicts, crises, and challenges that surround us? How are thematic priorities, stage aesthetics, and theatrical language changing in today's context of the crisis's cultural, humanitarian, and moral situation?
We expect the proposed texts to answer these and many other questions related to the current development of theatre during global crises and conflicts.
The proposals need to be sent by 25 May 2025.
They should include a brief synopsis of the article, study, or review (no more than 1000 characters) and a short biography (up to 500 characters).
Completed studies should be in a volume of up to 45,000 characters, articles – up to 18,000 characters and reviews – between 8,000 and 12,000 characters, and they should be received in the editorial office or by the lead editor by 15 July 2025.
Thank you for your cooperation!
