Call for Papers for ART STUDIES QUARTERLY, 2026, Issue 1
The editorial board of the Art Studies Quarterly invites potential authors to submit proposals for articles and reviews for the first issue of the journal in 2026, scheduled for publication by March 31, 2026.
The focus of the upcoming issue of Art Studies Quarterly is “Liturgical Objects, Texts, and Rite”. Sacred vessels used in Christian worship practices, rituals, and customs play a key role in the development of Christian culture and iconography. Not only do they reflect the artistic context, but they also materialise the liturgical life and manifestations of personal piety of believers at the time they were created. This issue aims to provide a forum for discussion among established and young researchers from Bulgaria and abroad who specialise in the study of ecclesiastical applied arts, particularly church utensils made from metal from the Early Modern period. Original studies tracing the connections between liturgical texts and the iconographic themes and motifs used to decorate liturgical objects will be prioritised.
The abstracts of the papers (up to 1000 characters) and short bios (up to 500 characters) must be sent by 1 October 2025.
Papers accepted for publication will be announced by 15 October 2025.
Completed articles and reviews, formatted according to the journal’s requirements, must be submitted no later than 15 December 2025. The author guidelines are available at: https://artstudies.bg/?page_id=8448&lang=en
All papers shall be double-blind peer-reviewed.
Please send your submissions to the editorial email at: probleminaizkustvoto@gmail.com, or to the email of the editor-in-chief of the issue, Assistant Prof. Darina Boykina, at: dboykina@gmail.com.
