CALL FOR PUBLICATIONS IN THE ART STUDIES QUARTERLY JOURNAL, 2026, ISSUE 2

The editorial board of the journal Art Studies Quarterly invites potential authors to submit their proposals for articles, studies, and reviews to be published in Issue 2 of 2026, scheduled for printing in June 2026.
In the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the gallery business in Bulgaria, Trapko Vassilev (1876–1971), the theme of the issue is "The Exhibition – Between Display and Expression". We will expect the inclusion of texts problematising specific exhibition spaces, temporary exhibitions, the urban environment as an exhibition area, and the role of the digital environment in the "exposition" of works of art. The topic implies insight into the relationship between display and expression, or how certain spatial characteristics (formal parameters) relate to the presentation and sharing (communication) of ideas, ideologies, and representations. Texts that explore the work of specific individuals and the role of institutions, texts problematising the history of gallery work and museum practices, artistic intervention in an urban environment, etc., will be accepted.
 
Proposals must be submitted by 23.01.2026, containing a summary of the study, article, or review in a volume of up to 1000 characters and a brief biographical reference of up to 500 characters.
The texts accepted for publication shall be announced by 30.01.2026.
Completed articles and studies, formatted according to the journal's author guidelines, should be submitted by 07.04.2026. All articles and studies are subject to double, anonymous peer review.
