Presentation of the debut book “Espiral Priciple. The Warrior’s Path in Contemporary Dance” by Assistant Professor Zahari Nankov, PhD
On January 12, 2026, at 18:30, in the Vyara Hall of the Sofia Library, the book by Assistant Professor Zahari Nankov, PhD, from the Music Sector of the Institute of Art Studies – BAS, "Espiral Principle. The Warrior’s Path in Contemporary Dance" will be presented. It examines the methodology of the author, Tsvetanka Gerginova, Espiral Principle (I Control, I Master, I Create) – a significant Bulgarian contribution to the field of contemporary dance. The monograph focuses on the synthesis of dance techniques and the philosophy of the warrior’s path, which together form a complete method that intertwines dance and philosophy.
The book is a spacious study covering German expressive dance and its migrations along the Germany-Chile-Bulgaria axis, American modern and jazz dance, and methods and techniques based on biomechanical understanding of movement worldwide, such as gymnastics, Pilates, etc. The analysis in the monograph takes the reader to the basis of the Espiral Principle training methodology, its foundations, philosophy, and practical application in working with people of different ages and experience levels. The text is based on the dissertation thesis of Assistant Professor Zahari Nankov, PhD, "Espiral Principle. Interactions with other dance techniques. Approaches in the training and creative process", with scientific supervisor Prof. Anelia Yaneva, DSc. The design and graphics in the book are the work of Arch. Petar Andreev / @alttecture, proofread by Stella Zidarova. The book contains 308 pages and 99 illustrations, and the author is also the publisher.
