INVITATION TO ART READINGS 2027: ART AND AUTHORITY, NEW ART MODULE

For another year, the Institute of Art Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, organises the international scientific conference Art Readings 2027, New Art Module, with the topic Art and Power. Framing, in this case, does not mean fencing in a homogeneous area, but rather is a starting point for exploring the changing faces of power across multiple fluid, dynamic, and irregular spaces. The title Art and Authority refers to authorities and legitimacy, the right to impose decisions and require submission; to those exercising power: persons, institutions, and organisations possessing sacred, political, legal, economic, and administrative power – with control over sociocultural life, artistic creation, and, in particular, artists.
