Invitation to participate in the 9th Youth Scientific Conference Art and Context 2026

The Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences invites Master’s graduates, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, and young scholars to submit papers to the 9th Youth Scientific Conference Art and Context 2026.

In 2026, the Institute of Art Studies will again provide an opportunity for all young colleagues working in the humanities to present the results of their scientific work, to exchange experience and professional contacts. We look forward to your applications for participation in the following modules:

– old, medieval, and Revival-period art;
– the art of the 20th and 21st centuries;
– theatre (history and the present day);
– cinema (history and the present day);
– music (history and the present day).

The reports will be printed in a scientific collection.

Important clarifications:

According to the Promotion of Scientific Research and Innovation Act, a post-doctoral researcher is a scholar who obtained the educational and scientific degree of ‘Doctor’ (PhD) no more than 8 years ago. A young researcher is a person who carries out research and educational activities in a higher education institution or scientific organisation after acquiring their first Master’s degree, but not more than 10 years after acquiring it.

Important dates:

until 01.09.2026 – sending applications for participation (title of the proposed report, together with a summary, no more than 2000 characters) and scientific biographies containing basic information about the candidate, including the name of a scientific supervisor (for graduate master’s and doctoral students);

until 20.09.2026 – preparation of a program;

30.11.2026 – deadline for submitting the texts for publication.
