Presentation of the results of the participation of the Institute of Art Studies in the project “Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence”

On December 12, 2023, the results of the participation of the Institute of Art Studies in the project  “Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence”, funded by the Operational Programme “Science and Education for Smart Growth” were presented. It focuses on the discovery and promotion of cultural heritage in Bulgaria and aims both to provide better conditions for high-level research and to introduce new technologies in the field in order to strengthen the potential of applied science. In its first phase (2018 – 2023), the IAS participated with three sub-projects.
The official event was attended by the head and coordinator of Heritage BG – corr. member Prof. Ivan Ilchev, DSc, and Prof. Olya Harizanova, DSc, from the leading organization Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. In her welcoming words, Prof. Harizanova emphasized the importance of the IAS as an active partner and thanked the research teams and the administration.
The three sub-projects were presented by their managers. The results of the first of them – “Cultural Heritage in the Archives of the Institute of Art Studies” – were presented by Prof. Goritsa Naydenova, PhD. She demonstrated the website developed by the team with five databases for the various scientific archives of the IAS, in which each unit is presented with its passport data and with an illustrative file (audio, video or images – notograms, photos, architectural drawings, etc.). Immediately after her, corr. member Prof. Ivanka Gergova pointed out the achievements of the second sub-project “Prayer Journeys of the Bulgarians during 18th–19th Centuries and Art” (seminar, scripts for documentaries, monographs). She stressed that it was her publication in this project that Principal Assist. Prof. Darina Boykina, PhD, received an award for in this year’s competition of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for the publication by a young scientist in the field of humanities and social sciences. The activity under the third sub-project on “Stage and Screen Arts in Bulgaria – Research, Historical Compendium and Laboratory" was exhibited by Prof. Nadezhda Mihaylova Marinchevska, PhD.
At the end of the event, corr. member Ivan Ilchev congratulated the teams on the results achieved and expressed his hope for the continuation of the partnership in the next stage of Heritage BG.
